More about Marcel
Marcel is such a gentle and loving little cat who needs to find a very special human.
He was abandoned at a young age and was straying for several months unneutered. Sadly, life on the streets had a devastating consequence for him: he sustained several injuries from fighting and contracted FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus), making him more vulnerable to other viruses and harmful bacteria.
Thankfully, he was rescued by a very kind family who took care of his health and taught him to trust humans again. But Marcel is still a very sensitive soul and never managed to feel fully comfortable with the family’s dog, so they reached out to us asking for help. As we have successfully found homes for two other FIV-positive cats in the past, we decided to give Marcel a chance too.
He is currently in his foster home, where he is absolutely adored and gives that love back every day. He doesn’t mind at all living a fully indoor life and really enjoys company and attention.
It took him a few weeks to feel fully comfortable and learn that he can sleep anywhere he wants and doesn’t have to hide whenever something unusual happens. Because of this, it is expected that Marcel will also adapt slowly in his new home, so he will need very patient and gentle humans to help him feel safe and loved. But once he trusts you, this little cat becomes the most affectionate companion, always by your side whether awake or asleep.
He is completely incapable of aggression: even when he is very scared, he simply hides or becomes totally motionless. He just needs someone who will give him the time and space he needs to come out of his shell and grow in confidence.
Marcel will need a quiet, adult-only home without any other animals, unless it is another FIV-positive cat.
He doesn’t require any medication or special care. Cats with FIV can live long and healthy lives as long as they are kept strictly indoors (or have access to a fully enclosed, escape-proof catio). He will also need to be kept up to date on his vaccinations, but overall he should not require any more medical attention than other cats.
If you are that special human who can give this wonderful cat a loving home, please send us a message at adoptions@backintodaylight.com with some information about yourself and your home. Please consider giving this sweet boy a chance, or if you know somebody who would be the right kind of human for him, please share this profile with them xx

Adoption Fee: €40 for not yet neutered kittens, €60 for neutered cats and kittens, €80 for neutered and microchipped cats Please note that, as a small charity, we cannot cover the cost of vaccinations, except for particularly vulnerable animals such as cats with FIV. There is no adoption fee for animals clearly marked as "special needs".
Adoption Process:
We send an adoption form to confirm whether potential adopter’s circumstances are suitable for taking a cat or kitten. Successful applicants are visited at their residence by our volunteer for a home check. Prior to arranging collection of the adopted cat, we provide their family with advice on how to organise the arrival of their new companion and all best practices to care for the animal. Two copies of an adoption agreement are signed on the day of collection, and adoption fee received.
