More about Barn cats
- Barn cats come in all shapes and sizes but as a rule they originate in outdoor colonies which need to be downsized. This means that we need to find alternative accommodation for them. Very few of them are suitable as pets as they tend to be distrustful of people. Most are mature adults but occasionally we have older kittens and young cats who have not responded to socialisation and are unlikely to become pets.
We usually try to rehome barn cats in bonded pairs i.e from the same colony but occasionally we come across really independent cat who genuinely seems to prefer living alone.
Barn cats earn their living by keeping premises rodent free. All they ask in return is food and lodging. If you can offer a permanent work placement to one or more of these cats (who will be spayed/ neutered and heath-checked before they leave us we’d love to hear from you.
